Airport Security
Friendly Staff At Shannon Airport
Friendly and efficient staff. What a pleasure to transit through an airport free of hassle – yet safety conscious. The Irish Coffees in the Departure Lounge are not to be missed – after all this is where Irish Coffees originated.
I travel with a dental utensil presribed to me by my dentist. I produce a prodigious amount of plaque. Without this utensil, my teeth would be in bad shape. I have been through many airport security lines, (Paris, Peru, US, London, etc.) and there has never been a problem….until today. Shannon Airport Security said it was a dangerous weapon and posed a threat to passengers and airline personnel. I explained what it was, it’s value, and the necessity of it’s use on a daily basis. The problem for me was the attitude, the insistence of danger, and the unwavering declaration that it was a weapon. I asked if there was some way it could be placed in my suitcase, could someone walk it to the plane, could they mail it me. One of the supervisor’s made a show of carrying it over to a "bin" and tossing it in. "Now there is nothing you can do." It was sad to see how happy he was at its disposal. This whole episode has soured me on Shannon.
